Waynia ("we", "our", or "us") values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use the Waynia mobile app ("the App") available on Google Play and the App Store, including premium subscriptions and in-app purchases.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in using Google or Apple, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo. We also record your authentication provider, account creation date, last sign-in date, and sign-in frequency for account security purposes.
Trip Data
Trip plans you create, edit, or delete, and related travel preferences. This includes daily itineraries, destination coordinates, hotel and restaurant recommendations, transport details, and budget breakdowns.
Chat Data
Messages exchanged with the AI travel assistant, powered by Google Gemini. Your queries are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. Complete conversation histories are stored to provide continuity and may be used to improve AI features.
Location Data
With your permission, we access your precise (GPS) or approximate (network-based) location to show nearby places, calculate distances, and provide personalized travel recommendations. On iOS, we may request "Always" or "When In Use" location access. You can change this at any time in your device settings. We do not continuously track your location in the background.
Usage Data
We track how you use app features, including the number of trips generated, chat messages sent, multi-location trips created, nearby places searched, and trip history views. This data is used to enforce usage limits for free accounts and to improve the app.
Device & Crash Data
Device type, operating system, and app usage statistics. We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports, error logs, and navigation data (such as the current screen at the time of an error) to diagnose and fix issues.
Notification Data
With your permission, we may send push notifications about your trips, special offers, and travel updates. You can control notification permissions in your device settings.
Subscription & Payment Data
All subscription and payment transactions are processed securely via Google Play or the App Store. We do not collect or store your credit/debit card or direct payment details. We receive information from Google or Apple regarding your subscription status (such as active, canceled, or expired), purchase dates, transaction identifiers, and the type of subscription to provide premium features and manage your access.
Preferences Data
Your language, currency, and notification preferences are stored to personalize your experience.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve app features (trip planning, AI chat, maps, nearby places, premium content, and subscription management).
- Generate personalized trip plans using AI (Google Gemini).
- Display interactive maps and relevant locations using Mapbox and Google Maps.
- Personalize your experience based on your preferences and usage patterns.
- Enforce usage limits for free-tier users.
- Communicate with you about important updates, support, or subscription status.
- Diagnose and fix app crashes and errors via Firebase Crashlytics.
- Analyze usage to enhance our services.
- Respond to account deletion or subscription cancellation requests.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your data only:
- With service providers that support app functionality, including:
- Google (Firebase) — for authentication, database storage, crash reporting, and cloud storage.
- Google Gemini AI — your trip planning queries and chat messages are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing.
- Google Maps / Google Places API — location and place search queries are sent to Google for search results, place details, and photos.
- Mapbox — for interactive map rendering and display.
- Google Play and Apple — for managing in-app purchases and subscriptions.
- If required by law or to protect rights and safety.
- With your consent.
4. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
- Premium features are offered via in-app purchases and subscriptions through Google Play or the App Store.
- Products include monthly and yearly premium plans.
- All payments are processed by Google or Apple; we do not store your payment information.
- You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time via your app store account settings.

5. Data Storage & Retention
- Your data (profile, trips, chat history, usage statistics) is stored on Google Firebase servers.
- Local data (language preference, onboarding status) is stored on your device using local storage.
- Trip plans and chat histories are stored indefinitely until you delete them or delete your account.
- When you delete your account, your data is archived temporarily for a limited period for recovery purposes, after which it is permanently deleted.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including secure API connections (HTTPS), Firebase security rules, and encrypted authentication tokens. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You may:
- Access or update your information in the app.
- Delete your trip plans and chat history at any time.
- Delete your account and all personal data from within the app.
- Control location, notification, and other permissions in your device settings.
- Cancel your subscription or manage premium features via your app store account.
- Request a copy of your data by contacting us at the email below.
8. Children's Privacy
Waynia is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it.
